Lisa Thompson Shares the
Secret of
Self Love Beauty
Lisa Thompson, founder & CEO of Self Love Beauty, joined us this week to speak about her organization and its "mission is to educate, invest and impact individuals on the importance of self-love and confidence in order to empower them to be the best version of themselves."
Self Love Beauty is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which began as a blog in 2012. Although the blog is still active and has many contributors beginning in 2013, Self Love Beauty has since blossomed into a mission based company with a website, their own podcast, and YouTube channel as well.
Self Love Beauty has specially designed programs that aim to help people realize the beauty and confidence within themselves. Their target audiences are youth (ages 6-11), teens (ages 12-18), families, and adults (19+). They also have programs designed for businesses, groups, and universities. Their three pillars of focus are: Educate + Invest = Impact.
In 2017, Self Love Beauty launched a youth ambassador program. Soon after they opened their own online shop which sells original clothing and other items which inspire the wearer. In 2016 they began their Beautiful Me campaign. "These campaigns showcase the different shirts from our collection to encourage and inspire women and young girls of all shapes, sizes and ages to come together to share their journey to self-love." Participants are encouraged to join together for a professional photo shoot highlighting their diversity. Each shoot requires a minimum of 12 people and all it costs is the price of a shirt.

Note: For World Polio Day, in partnership with the Dow Bay Area YMCA, we will be having a "Spinathon". Volunteers are needed for this event. More details to come.
